Fall is here again. I hope everyone is back in the swing of things and finding the semester to be very productive. Below is the collected news from a variety of DWC members, showing what an amazing organization we have! With the annual conference just weeks away I remind everyone, “Meet me in St. Louis”.

CHRISTINE RASCHE wishes to announce that she will be retiring from the faculty of the University of North Florida at the end of December 2008. Chris was one of UNF’s founding faculties. She went to UNF in 1972 to open UNF as the newest institution in Florida’s state university system, and has been on the faculty there for the past 36 years. During her tenure she served as the President of both the College of Arts and Sciences Faculty and the university-wide Faculty Association, and had several stints as interim department chair over the years. She was the prime mover in implementing both a baccalaureate and graduate program in Criminal Justice, as well as creating the UNF Women’s Studies Program (now Gender Studies), and she administered each of these programs for many years. In addition, this AMAZING woman was a founding member of this very organization, The American Society of Criminology’s Division on Women and Crime, of which she served as the Chairperson in 1995-97. While she does not need to move to Florida in her retirement, she is happily looking forward to a less demanding future there! Good luck and best wishes Christine!
