Jennifer Basmajian Hartsfield and Tiffany Sanford Jenson have recently completed their Ph.D.s in Sociology from the University of Oklahoma.

Jennifer has accepted a position to start next fall at Bridgewater State University, (Bridgewater, Massachusetts). Tiffany has accepted a position to start next fall at Brigham Young University-Idaho, (Rexburg, Idaho). Congrats to you both!

Jack Monell has just accepted an Assistant Professor position in Justice Studies at Winston Salem State University.

Alesha Durfree was recently promoted to Associate Professor at Arizona State University.

Jo-Ann Della Giustina has recently been promoted to Associate Professor at Bridgewater State University.

Susan Sharp was selected as the “Outstanding Faculty Member of 2011” at the University of Oklahoma by the OU Student Association. She has also been appointed as Vice-Chair of an Oklahoma legislative task force whose job is to come up with legislation to help incarcerated parents and their children. Currently, Susan is in Ireland teaching a cross-cultural comparison of women and crime (Ireland and the US) for Study Abroad at OU.

The National Association of Women Business Owners. (N. A. W. B. O.) honored Roz Muraskin as a women of excellence on June 9, 2011. Roz has also been appointed to P. A. W. L., a woman’s organization from the Nassau and Suffolk county women’s Bar Association, which mentors students looking to enter the world of politics.

Several DWCer’s have books coming out:

Jessica Hodge has a new book coming out this summer called Gendered Hate: Exploring Gender in Hate Crime Law. The book is being published within the Gender, Crime, and Law Series of Northeastern University Press with Claire Renzetti as Editor. Molly Dragiewicz has a new book, Equality with a Vengeance: Men’s Rights Groups, Battered Women, and Antifeminist Backlash, available from Northeastern University Press http://www.upne.com/1-55553-738-3.html

Jane Siegal also has a new book about children whose mothers are involved in the justice system entitled, Disrupted Childhoods: Children of Women in Prison. Roz Muraskin would like to announce the 5th edition of Women and Justice: It’s a Crime by Prentice Hall coming out.

Walter DeKeseredy also has recently written, Violence Against Women: Myths, Facts, and Controversies. It is on shelves from University of Toronto Press.

Susan Miller has two new books coming out, After the Crime:The Power of Restorative Justice Dialogues between Victims and Violent Offenders and The Victimization of Women: Law, Policies, and Politics (with Michelle Meloy).

Two members also have recent journal article publications to announce:

Jordana Navarro has her first article coming out: Navarro, J. & Jasinski, J.L. “Going Cyber:  Using Routine Activities Theory to Predict Cyber Bullying Experiences” which has been accepted for publication at Sociological Spectrum.

Walter DeKeseredy also has a new article in print at Aggression and Violent Behavior: DeKeseredy, W.S. (2011). “Feminist Contributions to Understanding Woman Abuse: Myths, Controversies, and Realities.” Aggression and Violent Behavior, 16, 297-302.
