DFC Committees

Diversity and Inclusion Committee: This committee is responsible for increasing the membership and participation of underrepresented groups within the DFC. It creates the criteria for the DFC and Feminist Criminology International Scholar Faculty and Graduate Student Awards. It also selects awardees of the travel awards and Community Engaged Scholar Award. Co- Chairs: Samantha Kopf-Apple and Eddie Shuau Wei

External Nominations Committee: This group works to identify and nominate DFC members for: (1) ASC Executive Board positions, (2) ASC committees, and (3) ASC awards in order to increase visibility and representation of the DFC in the larger ASC setting. Co-Chairs: Nickie Phillips and Nicholas Chagnon

Internal Awards Committee: This committee coordinates the nomination and election of DFC members for DFC awards including the Book Award. Chair: Miltonette Craig

Internal Nominations Committee: This group solicits nominations for DFC officers and facilitates the DFC election. Chair: Laura Iesue

Newsletter Committee: This committee is responsible for publication of the electronic newsletter on behalf of DFC. The newsletter is published three times each year (spring, summer, fall). Co-Chairs: Amy Poland and Vanessa Gutierrez

Outreach Committee: This group develops and implements strategies to recruit new members to the DFC and supports the needs of existing members. The committee coordinates goal-oriented recruitment drives to expand, diversify, and internationalize the DFC membership. Chair: Trisha Rhodes

Programming Committee: This committee organizes DFC panels, sessions, and events of interest for the ASC Annual Meeting and distributes this information to the DFC and ASC membership. Chair: Deena Isom

Feminist Criminology Graduate Awards Selection Committee: This group coordinates applications for and selects winners of the Feminist Criminology graduate student awards. The members of the committee are appointed by the chair and the editor of Feminist Criminology. Co-Chairs: Lisa Pasko and Shavonne Arthurs

Social Media Committee: This committee maintains all DFC social media content and drafts policies governing social media usage for Board approval. Chair: Jennifer Cheek

Special Events Committee: This group plans and coordinates the annual social event awards ceremony, and business meeting. It also facilitates development of other special events, as needed. Co-Chairs: Staci Strobl and Sarah Fischer

Mentoring and Student Affairs Committee: This committee develops and implements strategies to recruit student members to the DFC. It develops strategies to assess and support the needs of student members. It also leads a mentoring program with the overarching goal of diversifying and internationalizing the DFC memberships. Co-Chairs: Danielle Slakoff and Sarah Murray

Student Paper and Poster Awards Committee: This group solicits nominations and selects the recipient of the DFC student paper awards and student poster awards (undergraduate and graduate). Chair: Andia Azimi

Teaching and Pedagogy Committee: This committee organizes sessions on teaching at the ASC meetings, updates the division syllabus collection, and supports other committees with teaching-related issues. Chair: Vacant  – Archive of Online DFC Teach-In (2020)
