Jody Miller was appointed to Distinguished Professor in the School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University. Well done, Jody!

Emily Lenning was honored by the UNC Board of Governors with a 2017 Award for Excellence in Teaching: https://www.northcarolina.edu/Board-Governors-Awards/Teaching-Awards-2017#ta17_lenning_fsu. Congrats M!

Kristen Hourigan received the Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation award at the State University of New York, Albany for her project entitled, Redefining Murder: A Qualitative Exploration of Emotion and Identity Following Loss of a Loved One to Homicide, as well as the Paul Meadows Award for Excellence in Research for her paper entitled, The Gentleman who Killed my Daughter: Explaining the Effects of Social Proximity on Forgiveness After Extreme Offense. Kristy will join California State University, Los Angeles in the fall; she will be focusing on the intersection between deviance and emotion.

Rita Shah will join Eastern Michigan University in the fall.

Christina Lanier was promoted to Full Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.  Congratulations!

Sarah Koon-Magin was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice at the University of South Alabama. Congrats Sarah!

Tara Richards was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in the School of Criminal Justice at the University of Baltimore.  Well done Tara!

Several DWC members also have new articles and books:

Katie Hail-Jares, Corey S. Shdaimah, and Santhi Leon have a new edited volume, Challenging Perspectives on Street-based Sex Work, which was just released from Temple University Press. Edith Kinney is a contributing author. Check it out http://www.temple.edu/tempress/titles/2439_reg.html. There will be a corresponding roundtable with several of the authors at ASC in November.

Alida V. Merlo’s new book Reaffirming Juvenile Justice: From Gault to Montgomery (with Peter J. Benekos) was just released by Routledge.
