At the American Society of Criminology conference this fall in Atlanta, the Division of Women and Crime will be sponsoring a teaching workshop, along with collaboration with members of the Division on People of Color and Crime (DPCC). This workshop is aimed at graduate students, new scholars and/or faculty who would like to learn more or enhance their own teaching.  The topics that will be covered include:

  • The Basics: Creating Syllabi, Constructing Lectures, Composing Assignments with Inclusivity in Mind
  • Successful Class Discussion Techniques: Online and On Campus
  • Introduction to Feminist Pedagogy
  • Dealing with Resistance from an Intersectional Lens
  • Bringing Marginalized Groups to Center
  • Open Q&A Forum: What Great Professors Do

Each topic will have 2-3 individuals presenting, providing information and examples, as well as answering questions. The goal of this workshop is for the participants to leave with new information and strategies to use in their own classrooms.
