Hello Fellow DWC Members,

Below is the collected news from a variety of DWC members, showing what an amazing organization we have! Please keep sending updates to tricha11@gmail.com.

Best Regards,

Tara Richards

As the Chair of the Author Meets Critics sessions for the 2012 Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences meeting, Claire Renzetti would like to encourage DWC members who have a new book coming out this year (2011) or one that came out recently (2010) to participate in this exciting opportunity. Please email her with the book title, publication date, and publisher. They should send this information to: claire.renzetti@uky.edu by May 15, 2011. Thanks, Claire!

We would also like to announce several new publications:

Walter DeKeseredy just finished a new book, Violence Against Women: Facts, Myths, Controversies, from University of Toronto Press. Information about the work can be found at: http://www.utppublishing.com/Violence-Against-Women-Myths-Facts-Controversies.html?page=1.

Hannah Scott also has a new book, Victimology: Canadians in Context, available from Oxford University Press. The link is: http://www.oupcanada.com/catalog/Higher-Education/SOCIAL-SCIENCES/SOCIOLOGY-ANTHROPOLOGY-AND-MEDIA-STUDIES/SOCIOLOGY-ALL/9780195427622.html.

Along with her co-author, Venessa Garcia has also finished a new book: Garcia, Venessa and McManimon, Patrick. (2011). Gendered Justice: Intimate Partner Violence and the Criminal Justice System. Lanham, MD: Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc. She graciously acknowledged several DWC members in the dedication but it was inadvertently omitted at publishing:

“Thank you to the American Society of Criminology’s Division of Women and Crime. All of the listserv conversations engaged with Walter DeKeseredy, Joanne Belknap, Natalie Sokoloff, Molly Dragiewicz, Matt VanEseltine, Marty Schwartz, Sheetal Ranjan, and Jerome McKean helped to refine conceptualization within this book. They will keep the conversation alive at our meetings.”
