Teaching Resources Now Online

The Committee on Teaching and Pedagogy created a new online DWC Teaching Resource Guide through Google Drive. As you’ll see, there are different teaching categories that contain ideas for readings, films and other resources. Committee members input their recommendations from the classes they regularly teach and we’d now like to open it up to the DWC membership to contribute their teaching recommendations. When you have a chance, please input information for the classes that you teach and soon we should have an excellent resource for the division membership! If you feel that other teaching categories should be added, please feel free to create a new sheet in the document.

DWC Website Now Posts to Facebook

Don’t have time to look at posts on the DWC website AND on Facebook?  Hate to miss out on all your friends’ activities by cutting down on your Facebook usage?  Fear not!  Posts made to the DWC website will now feed to Facebook.  Continue to look over your favorite memes and see what Research Mark Wahlberg is up to.  You’re welcome.

Congrats to DWC Members on Publication of New Book

Congratulations to DWC members Carrie Buist and Emily Lenning on the publication of their new book, Queer Criminology, part of the “New Directions in Critical Criminology” series.  In this book, Carrie L. Buist and Emily Lenning reflect on the origins of Queer Criminology, survey the foundational research and scholarship in this emerging field, and offer suggestions for the future.

Covering topics such as the criminalization of queerness; the policing of Queer communities; Queer experiences in the courtroom; and the correctional control of Queer people, Queer Criminology synthesizes the work of criminologists, journalists, legal scholars, non-governmental organizations, and others to illuminate the historical and contemporary context of the Queer experience.
